Pauline’s Bio
Pauline met Ronnie through the Helping Hands Facebook page and began to support the charity with a small monthly donation. Later, she felt God calling her to go to Kamuli; to see firsthand the poverty she had witnessed on the Facebook page.
The day she set off for Africa, Pauline admits she thought to herself ‘’What am I doing, going to Africa on my own?’’ but God gave her peace and off she went, receiving a warm welcome from Ronnie and his family on arrival in Entebbe.
Peak Trinity church in Bakewell supported her visit by fundraising for a borehole, to provide a community with much needed clean water.
During her stay at Helping Hands, Kamuli, Pauline was involved in setting up a sewing project, teaching women in the community to make clothing, enabling them to earn a living in the future, and so break the cycle of poverty which is so prevalent in Kasokoso communities.
Pauline, a qualified nurse, also liaised with a local doctor and nurses at a clinic in the town, which has led to a doctor agreeing to hold a surgery once a month at the Helping Hands Centre. This will enable the community to access much needed medical care, which is usually beyond their means.
